The Gifts of Love International Story
Gifts of Love International officially began in 2003 as a registered 501 ©3 non-profit by St. Louisans Don and Barb Kassebaum. However, the organization's roots trace back to 1986 at a children’s home in Guatemala where Don and Barb began their work providing aid to underprivileged children in partnership with local churches. In Guatemala, the organization grew to provide education, food relief, and job training to children and families across the country.
In 2012, Gifts of Love International began funding an organization in Haiti, providing food and education for children of La Gonâve Island. In 2019, they adopted these programs as Gifts of Love Haiti, and have since grown them to provide food, water, medical care, and jobs in Haiti.
Gifts of Love International partners with individual, foundations, and corporate supporters to provide love and care for underprivileged children across Guatemala and Haiti. To date, we have helped build and run two schools, a health clinic, empower local churches, fund school and community feeding programs serving meals to over 1,000 people per day, and launch a mentorship program for adolescents.
